Galleon uses a database to store the information about your media. This makes it possible to scale to very large collections without requiring additional memory resources. In fact, Galleon uses less memory and processing resources than JavaHMO.

The database is also much more efficient for collecting and updating data about media files. This means that the media organizers perform much faster.

Galleon is not restricted by the limited capabilities of the HMO protocol that JavaHMO used. By using the new TiVo HME protocol, Galleon provides significantly improved user interactivity and capabilities.

Galleon supports skinning of all its interfaces so that users can change the look-and-feel of all of the content provided by the server.
